The restaurant is located in a Danish community town in California called "Solvang". It is there, in that town, where you'll find the restaurant ; and they still make and serve their famous "Green Pea Soup". ^_^Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397911622564132859.post-13984363798330920292014-03-09T19:50:55.529-07:002014-03-09T19:50:55.529-07:00When was the Mammoth Lakes Pea Soup closed? I was disappointed that the pea soup wasn't made with a hambone. It's vegetarian, which is great for vegetarians, but making it with a hambone gives pea soup some serious girth.

It's a pretty interesting place otherwise, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397911622564132859.post-43252194799589870962010-07-31T23:30:17.183-07:002010-07-31T23:30:17.183-07:00What about the one in Selma, CA, that is now a Spi...What about the one in Selma, CA, that is now a Spike and Rail? Pat Derby was the women that ran the show. She is now saving elephants, tigers, bears, and many moor animals that would have most likly died if it wasn't for Pat. She runs P.A.W.S now in northern California and has saved a lot of lives. Thank you Pat, your angel to animals. The husband and wife ran the show. They allowed visiting kids to feed their large adult pet bear Oreos, mouth-to-mouth! It was quite an amazing experience.
I heard that not too long after that, that the husband died from an attack of one of his wild animals. Sad, so very sad.Shaunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02316937255245782875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397911622564132859.post-68953116204629531242009-01-27T22:34:00.000-08:002009-01-27T22:34:00.000-08:00One of my young memories is dining at the Carlsbad...One of my young memories is dining at the Carlsbad Pea Soup Andersen's. The place was so big, with the landmark windmill outside, giant beams in the ceilings, and very dark lighting, but the most compelling feature was the giant cartoon on the wall of the big and little guy splitting peas w/ an axe. That little factory was just behind the wall of our table in my young mind, and I was mesmerized with the thought. The soup was great, but the memories were even better. Too bad the windmill is now a TGIF's. Just glad that Andersen's sell their soup in a can. Ahhh, memories!cadmstrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12433089489764508708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397911622564132859.post-33626051459813427022008-01-04T18:10:00.000-08:002008-01-04T18:10:00.000-08:00I've been by the original location countless times...I've been by the original location countless times when doing business trips to Solvang and Santa Ynez.
