I first became a regular at the Pico location in about 1958. All there was at that time was a small building with a horse shoe shaped counter ( no hard drinks ) Within a couple of years they began to expand by adding to the east side of the original building, the new additions were all decorated with the tropical theme. I would disagree with your comment about their food. Without question their eggroll appetizer was the best eggroll I have ever tasted before or since. They were also popular for their "Mile High" beef and pork sandwiches as well as their bar-b-qued ribs. As many restuarants do, they eventually began to decline and have since faded away....If there is a heaven, I am convinced that they will have a great location and the food will be better that ever.
